Summer Contest for Writers: July 1 – July 31

Experienced or Amateur? Enchanting stories is all we ask. Fairy Tale entries for the Summer Writing Contest are accepted during July only. Please remember this is for children’s entertainment, so no violence, adult themes, or current event controversies should be included. The main character is usually not magical (that would be fantasy,) yet magic is often included in some limited way if it puzzles your hero. Winners of the contest get $50, a feature on Facebook, and a complimentary copy of their story printed as a FSFT Small Story Client Project. Collaborations of story and illustration may be submitted together (add “collaboration” to your e-mail subject line and include both names.) Details are below:

Word Count: 2,000 – 5,000

Cover Sheet in Main Doc:

  • Name of Author
  • City of Author
  • E-mail of Author
  • Story Title
  • Word Count
  • Up to 50 Words (bio / story explanation / mini rant) optional

Pages 2 and onward NO IDENTIFYING INFORMATION, but page numbers may be included

Summer Illustration Contest: July 1 – July 31

What’s your style? Cartoonish? Realistic? Abstract? Specialty? Your illustration of a fairy tale is exactly what we need! Please remember this is for children’s entertainment, so no violence, adult themes, or current event controversies should be included. Portrait orientation of a COLOR artwork can be submitted by E-mail. Wining entries will be asked for original work as well, and winners of the contest get $50, and feature on Facebook. A complimentary copy of a FSFT Small Story Client Project may be included if your illustration is part of a package submission with a contest story entry (It can be your own story or another author as collaborator. Add “collaboration” to your e-mail subject line and include both names.) Details are below:

  • Media Used (colored pencil, oil, acrylic, digital, mixed media, etc.)

Attach your image as jpeg to e-mail but filename should NOT include your name
